Programs that directly impact people’s lives are the core of any nonprofit’s work. They’re how missions come to life. Yet, with limited resources and fluctuating funding, many organizations struggle to hire and retain senior program talent and bring programs from vision to execution.
That’s where I come in. As a fractional program leader, I work alongside your team to design, develop, and strengthen mission-critical programs. I help you align strategy and deliver programs, without the overhead of a full-time hire.

Project Management
A familiar challenge: An organization secures funding for an initiative with massive potential impact, but with no dedicated project manager and internal staff already stretched thin, execution falters.
That’s where I can help. As a part-time project manager focused solely on your initiative, I bring structure, momentum, and accountability, guiding the work from planning through implementation. I help ensure that your funding doesn’t just support a good idea, but delivers measurable, mission-aligned results.
My story
Tim Baran Consulting was born from a simple realization: nonprofits do transformative work, but too often, they do it without enough support. After years leading research and education at a law firm, heading up marketing in legal tech, and directing programs at a national nonprofit, I stepped back and asked: how can I help more organizations do their best work?
That question followed me to Rwanda on a youth leadership exchange program. The experience was a reset, professionally and personally. It inspired me to leave my full-time role and build a consultancy focused on empowering the people behind the mission.
I’m deeply passionate about working with legal aid organizations, justice tech projects, and nonprofits across sectors to bring clarity, capacity, and connection to their work. Whether supporting executive teams, managing complex projects, or designing impactful programs, I lead with collaboration, curiosity, and care.
I also bring the perspective of a lifelong learner. My graduate studies in organizational leadership, social innovation, and digital pedagogy continue to shape my practice. At the heart of it all is a belief that when advocates are supported and communities are engaged, nonprofits thrive, and their impact multiplies.
While much of my current work is rooted in the law and civil justice where I’ve spent much of my professional life, more recently, I’ve been also drawn to programmatic work at the intersection of civil justice and workforce development, particularly within public universities. These institutions have the power to drive economic mobility and community empowerment, especially when paired with access to legal tools, information, and support. As someone who returned to school as an adult and furthered both purpose and opportunity through public higher education, I’m eager to help universities design programs that equip students and communities with the resources to thrive.
